Meridian Triathlon Club is committed to making triathlon inclusive and accessible to everyone regardless of age (over 18s club only, no junior section), gender or athletic ability. This code sets out what the Meridian Triathlon Club expects from you as a member, volunteer, coach or on the committee and what you can expect from the club. The club and its representatives (members, volunteers, coaches, committee) will endeavour to do the following:
Committee, coaches and volunteers shall;
- Commit to and consider the safeguarding and promotion of the wellbeing of all club members.
- Ensure activities are safe, inclusive, legal and fair, meeting good practice guidelines and Health and Safety requirements.
- Provide a range of training and development opportunities for all abilities and disciplines chosen by members to join in with club activities
- Encourage participants to value their performances and not just results.
- Encourage and guide participants to accept responsibility for their own performance and behaviour.
- Encourage members to be open at all times and share any concerns or complaints that they may have with the Club Welfare Officer.
- Provide opportunities for members to influence the club’s organisation and contribute to the running of the club.
All members shall;
- Abide by the Club Constitution and Code of Conduct laid down by Meridian Triathlon Club.
- Respect all participants regardless of their age, gender, sexual orientation, cultural background, religion or athletic ability.
- Treat all persons within the triathlon community with dignity and respect and equally.
- Support and encourage good sporting practice by abiding by rules, respecting coaches, referees or officials’ decisions.
- Encourage and commend fellow members in their training, competition and participation.
- Encourage and guide fellow members to accept responsibility for their own performance and behaviour.
- Communicate openly and freely with club coaches and committee members.
- Report any medical conditions, injuries or incidents whether at training or during events to a club coach or to the committee via the Welfare Officer.
- Be expected to contribute / join in on the running of events which generate income and maintain low training fees for the club.
- Display a high standard of behaviour at all times. You should display courtesy and good manners towards others.
- Consistently promote positive aspects of the sport and Club.
- Abide by the BTF guidelines, rules and regulations whenever training and competing
- Be respectful on the club’s social media platforms. You should not post images that are inappropriate or links to inappropriate content. Nor should you make defamatory comments about individuals, the club, or other organisations.
Club Rules
By joining the club, you as a member and participant agree to;
- Not bring the club nor BTF into disrepute.
- Abide by the British Triathlon and Meridian Triathlon Club rules and Codes of Conduct.
- Abide by the British Triathlon and Meridian Triathlon Club adopted rules on Anti-Doping and other.
- Avoid any actions that may endanger other club members or members of the Public.
- Be courteous at all times to pedestrians and other road and path users.
- Obey the Highway Code and respect the rules of the public highways and footpaths.
- Wear suitable clothing and protection for each club training session.
- Pay for any fees for training and events before taking part.
- Not consume non-medication drugs at any kind of venue whilst representing the club.
- Not advertise personal or business services to any club member without getting prior approval from the committee.
